Deduction Board Games
Deduction games are those in which players use their own reasoning ability to discover hidden information in order to complete the game. Players are tasked with accumulating and evaluating evidence, which is often contradictory or incomplete, and then making a “best guess” which will hopefully be proven correct. Because the game relies entirely on the pursuit of this knowledge, deduction games generally have some method of randomizing or otherwise varying the answer, which serves to differentiate deduction games from puzzle games. Perhaps the most well-known deduction game is Clue (or Cluedo), and indeed many titles in this genre, such as Mysterium or Deception: Murder in Hong Kong, are themed around solving a mysterious crime.
