The source of these shapes, also known as pentominoes and pentacubes, and what sparked the growth of a whole genre of polyform puzzles, was Solomon Golomb's 1962 book, Polyominoes, popularized by Martin Gardner in articles in Scientific American magazine. Quintillions was Kadon's first product.
